What is Shnat?
Every year, HDANZ sends a group of highschool graduates to Israel for a ten month long Shnat Hachshara leadership programme.
Participants take part in the intensive ‘Machon L’Madrichei Chutz La’Aretz’ programme, experience life on a kibbutz, sample communal living whilst volunteering in underprivileged areas of Israeli society, and spend a week in Poland visiting concentration camps and learning about the history of Habonim Dror. The Shnat programme provides participants with in-depth education about the Habonim ideology as well as strong leadership skills to ensure that trained and capable leaders return to New Zealand to run the movement.
